The Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) certification program has been granted continued accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), the only accrediting body specifically for nursing certification.

The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) and the Air and Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) awarded the 2017 Distinguished CFRN Award at the Critical Care Transport Medicine Conference (CCTMC) in San Antonio, TX. The award, presented annually, recognizes a CFRN or CTRN who has shown outstanding support of the certification process in flight or critical care ground transport nursing.

Bambi Pish-Derr, DNP, RN, CFRN, CCRN rose to the top from a prominent list of nominees and was named as this year's recipient. Click on the news title to read the full article.

The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) have mutually agreed to dissolve the joint ownership of the Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) program. As such, BCEN is now the sole owner of the CPEN exam and program. BCEN is grateful for our partnership with PNCB these past several years, as together our organizations developed and launched this much needed and valued certification. BCEN is fully committed to the continued success of the CPEN program.

Service to CPEN exam candidates and current CPENs will not be impacted by this change, and the CPEN credential remains valid for all actively certified CPENs. In addition, BCEN is working closely with the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) to ensure this change in ownership does not affect the current accreditation status of the CPEN program. The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) has launched a new certification, Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN™).

TCRN is the first national certification program for trauma nurses, who are integrally involved in patient management, communication and education. Trauma nursing spans the continuum of care, from injury prevention through rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Click on the title to read the full press release.

The Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) certification program has been granted accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), the only accrediting body specifically for nursing certification. The CPEN program is co-owned and managed by BCEN® and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). This is the first jointly held certification to receive ABSNC accreditation. Both organizations are proud of this accomplishment, as accreditation signifies that the CPEN certification complies with the highest quality standards set forth by ABSNC. The Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) applauds the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) for its decision to develop and introduce the Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN™) examination, which will incorporate the body of knowledge in trauma nursing across the continuum of care, from injury prevention through reintegration to home.  Click on the title for more details.
