Recognize Your Certified Nurses

Do you have unique ways of recognizing the certified nurses in your institution? Earning a BCEN® certification is a significant achievement; it takes commitment, time, and hard work. There are simple things you can do to recognize your emergency nurse's success and to inspire others to pursue a BCEN certification. Here are some ideas to get you started.

  1. Remember them on Certified Nurses Day, March 19. Recognize their commitment to exceptional patient care.
  2. Purchase official BCEN merchandise from the BCEN Store. There are a variety of logo items for those who have earned the CEN®, CFRN®, CPEN®, CTRN® and TCRN® designations. Shop the BCEN Store now.
  3. Send a letter of appreciation to your certified nurses. They've gone above and beyond to achieve their certification. Let them know it matters to you and your organization.
  4. Give them a gift certificate for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Whether their work day ends at 4 am or 7 pm they'll be happy to know they can treat themselves to a good meal.
  5. Give them the floor. Give your certified emergency nurses a dedicated time to talk about their certification to their colleagues. Support their efforts in helping others achieve BCEN certification, whether it's an institutional requirement or a personal goal.
  6. Contact BCEN to get copies of new promotional marketing materials, with details on all of the BCEN specialty certifications. Make them available in your department.
  7. Visit the BCEN website to view testimonial videos of BCEN certified nurses.  These inspirational stories will encourage your coworkers to get certified. Why not play these during a staff meeting?
