Get Ready for the Exam!

Congratulations on making the decision to achieve your certification and demonstrate your knowledge! BCEN® offers the following items to help you prepare.

Take a CPEN Practice Exam as Your Final Pretest and also Determine Your Weak Areas

Taking a CPEN practice exam will assist with identifying areas to concentrate your study and will help you become familiar with the types of questions that may be on your exam. If you purchased a CPEN practice exam, do a final run-through.  Plus, you can access the CPEN practice exam multiple times within your 90 day window.

Identify Your Learning Style and Create a Study Plan
Are you an auditory, kinesthetic, or visual learner? Identify your optimal learning style. Learn more.

Apply for and Schedule the Exam
Read through the Candidate Handbook.

Then apply for the exam online via your BCEN account and schedule your exam appointment with Pearson VUE. You will receive an exam eligibility e-mail from BCEN upon completion of your online application and receipt of payment in full.  Your exam eligibility e-mail contains important information on your 90-day test window, and how to schedule your exam appointment with Pearson VUE.

Sit for the Exam

If successful, renew your certification in 4 years. If unsuccessful, you may re-test 3 months after studying your lower-scoring content areas.

BCEN's Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN®), Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN®) and Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN®) credential have been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).
