CFRN® Recertification

Keep Your Certification Current. Recertify!

Your skills and knowledge grow with every patient you help and every situation you encounter in flight. Make sure your efforts continue to be recognized — recertify today and keep your specialty certification current.

Here's Another Reason to Maintain Your CFRN Certification!

Your BCEN® specialty nursing certification, as well as other specialty nursing certifications, may be accepted by your State Board of Nursing for all continuing education (CE) or continued competence (CC) requirements, or for partial CE or CC requirements when renewing your RN licensure.  Click here for more details.

BCEN Philosophy on Recertification

BCEN recognizes the importance of continued competence in the profession and supports the definition that continued competence is the ongoing ability to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, judgment and values to practice safely, effectively, and ethically.

BCEN supports recertification as a means of encouraging individuals to continue activities essential to the maintenance of knowledge and continuing competence required for their level of practice and certification in flight nursing. BCEN’s recertification process is comprehensive, assessing the same content areas as initial certification, including clinical experience/performance and professional issues.

CFRN Recertification

CFRN certification must be recertified every 4 years and you are responsible for keeping track of your certification expiration date.  As a courtesy, current CFRNs receive e-mail reminders from BCEN regarding upcoming certification expiration. You may choose from two different recertification options: Continuing Education (CE) by Attestation or by the CFRN exam. Click the links on the left to learn more.
Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification

BCEN's Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN®), Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN®) and Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN®) credential have been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).
